Zwingli UCC

This project called for the redesign of Zwingli United Church of Christ located in rural Pennsylvania. The design concept was developed by looking at the physiology of a dove. The dove has powerful symbolic meanings within Christianity, and was used as a major influence for program relationships and architectural forms. The project is meant to be experienced as a passage through starkly different spaces evoking movement both physically and spiritually. The manipulation of light acts as the main tool in creating a series of different moods, conveying the worshipper along a spiritual journey.

NSAD Redesign

This design project called for a redesign of The NewSchool of Architecture and Design located in San Diego, CA. The design process began by looking at the ideal design of an architectural student's desk and studio arrangement. From this study led to a communal hexagonal studio space, which then informed different aspects of the design including the new structure and a modular western-facing sun screen.

This redesign for the Oceanside, CA firestation was the response to a challenge for creating an adaptable space which could respond in an emergency situation to servicing a large number of people; carried out by way of expandable temporary space and sectioned wings for multiple uses.
